Deborah Pepin

Deborah Pepin was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley of California.  She is a self-taught Artist and has always considered herself a creative.

Deborah began her artful journey with watercolors and quickly expanded into inks, oils, cold wax, and in late 2016 was introduced to the pastel medium.  All of her landscape work is done in pastels and oils.   Often you can find her plein air painting in and around the Central Valley.

She is well known for her abstracts, she calls her "Doodles".  Random colors on paper then she doodles over the color with India inks.  She calls this ZenDoodling and teaches classes at the Door Gallery in this technique.  ZenDoodling is very therapeutic, and she often uses this creative means to calm her mind.

Deborah has won many awards locally as well as nationally and in the last year has won 3 Best of Show awards with her pastel work.  She is currently teaching a pastel workshop at the Door Gallery.

Her work can be found in Corporate and private collections, in Southern California, the Central Coast of California, the San Joaquin Valley,  Texas, South Dakota, Minnesota, Colorado and across the pond in England.

Deborah is on the board of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, a member of Pastel Society of America, 3CPS, and Society of West Coast Artists.

“My hope as an artist is witnessing the intimate connection I share through my oil and pastel paintings and that the audience will be inspired to forge a relationship with the natural world through this work.  Every pastel stroke, every brush stroke plays a part in the creations of my art as I invite you,  the audience, to slow down and enjoy the beauty of this world through my eyes.”
