Born near Sacramento, Joyce Burnett is a third generation
Californian and a graduate of San Jose State University,
earning her BA in art and a teaching credential in art
education. She has lived in Fresno since 1980, where she
has studied with many local artists, including Milli Pepper,
Steve Norton and Paul Buxman. Joyce has also been a member
of the plein-air Tuesday Group. In 1995, with a group
of fellow artists, she opened The Door Art Gallery where
she displays her work and teaches watercolor classes.
Her work may also be seen at Rollf's Gallery and Fig Garden
Bookstore.
Joyce has exhibited in many local and regional art shows
where she has received numerous awards and recognition.
Working in a variety of media, her subject matter includes
landscape, still life, florals, exteriors and abstract.
Currently, two of her paintings are included in the Central
California Blood Center Calendar 2002, and she has just
completed the illustrations for David Mas Masumoto's new
book, Four Seasons in Five Senses, coming out
in January, 2003.
